KARACHI, March 7: The Sindh Billiards and Snooker Association (PBSA) had revised the existing format of Sindh Snooker Cup which would come into effect from May.

“The base of Sindh Cup has been widened providing more chances to players to qualify for the nationals,” secretary of the association, Sikander Ali Badruddin said Tuesday.

He said the proposed format envisaged four phases to be followed by final leg thus giving more chances to participants to prove their mettle.

Under the present system players belonging to the province vie to attain top eight berths at the annual Sindh Cup in order to qualify for the national championship.

According to him, top eight players from each of the four phases would play together in the last and final leg with quarterfinalists moving into the national.

He said in addition to spreading the game in all nook and corner of the city, one phase would be staged at Hyderabad aimed at giving equal chance to players of the interior Sindh.

The first phase of next Sindh Cup would commence at Aly’s snooker parlour from May 23. Last date for submission of entries is May 19.
