Two-stroke lead for Irfan

LAHORE, March 7: Irfan Mahmood played a solid game to emerge as the first day leader of All-Pakistan Lahore Garrison golf tournament on Tuesday.

Irfan posted a card of four-under-par-68, laced with six birdies and two bogeys.

Started from hole No. 10, the leader faltered in the beginning as he had one bogey each at the 10th and the 13th.

But he was not unnerved and bounced back with birdies at the 15th, 16th, 3rd, 5th, 6th and the 7th to end the day as the sole leader.

Tough competition was prevailing at the second, the third positions and the fourth positions.

At 70, Imdad Hussain (36,34), Shahid Javed Khan (34,36), Akhtar Ali (35,35) were bracketed at the second spot.

Three players Sajjad Khan, Mohammad Siddiq and M. Munir are tied with identical score of one-under-par-71 for third place.

Leading first scores:

68- Irfan Mahmood.

70- Imdad Hussain; Shahid Javed Khan; Akhtar Ali.

71- Sajjad Khan; M Siddiq ; M Munir.

72- M Ilyas (Gymkhana); Yasrib Habib; Abbas Ali; M Sajid; Fida Hussain.
