SHEIKHUPURA, March 7: Police claimed to have busted on Tuesday a five-member gang of dacoits after an ‘encounter’ on Lahore-Sharqpur road, recovering cash and illicit weapons along with stolen and snatched valuables.

District Police Officer Aslam Tareen told journalists that Factory Area SHO heading a team conducted raids on some suspected places and arrested the gang leader, Sakhi alias Sekho, along with four of his accomplices, identified as Imtiaz alias Bhasa, Khadim alias Khadu, Niamat alias Tadi and Rasheed alias Cheeda.

The recovered valuables included motorcycles, mobile phones, gold ornaments and electronics.

The DPO claimed the arrested outlaws were involved in many heinous crimes, including highway robberies and wanted by Sheikhupura and Lahore districts’ police for the last several years.
