VANCOUVER (Canada) March 7: The Pakistan chapter of the Aga Khan Planning and Building Service (AKPBS) has received $1 million Alcan Prize for its efforts to improve housing conditions and water and sanitation facilities in the country, says a press release.
The prize was accepted on behalf of the agency by Princess Zahra Aga Khan, head of the social welfare department at the Aga Khan’s secretariat.
Princess Zahra said that the prize would be matched with a $1 million contribution from the Aga Khan Foundation in recognition of Canada’s long-standing support for the work of the Pakistan branch of the AKPBS, and of Alcan’s Canadian roots.
