KARACHI: City govt to set up trauma centre

KARACHI, March 7: Nazim Karachi Mustafa Kamal has said that the City Government is setting up a trauma centre, equipped with all modern facilities, near NIPA Chowrangi which would provide immediate medical aid in emergencies.

Having facilities of helicopter and helipad, it will be Pakistan’s first major and well-equipped trauma centre.

Presiding over a meeting at his office on Tuesday, Mustafa Kamal said that the trauma centre at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital will start functioning after 15 days and people will find an environment there much better than city’s private hospitals.

“The provision of better medical facilities to Karachiites is on the top of the list of priorities of Haq Parast leadership,” he said and added that the city government is linking all of its hospitals, especially Abbasi Shaheed, with Civil and Jinnah hospitals, to enable them to see the past medical record of a patient.

“We are trying to improve the working of our hospitals through best medical management system and information technology.”

CAMERAS: Nazim Karachi Syed Mustafa Kamal has said that consultancy has been invited for installation of traffic control cameras to bring an improvement in traffic system in Karachi on which work will start soon.

Speaking at a meeting here on Tuesday, the City Nazim said that he could have installed 50 plaques during the last four months, but did not put up even five.

He said he was not in favour of digging up the city unnecessarily.—APP
