In its ongoing crackdown, the police also registered 279 cases against the culprits.

City Police Chief Khwaja Khalid Farooq directed SSP (operations) Aamir Zulfiqar to expedite the operation and depute more policemen at the hub of kite flying.

The SSP said special teams had been constituted to check the violation. He said ladders were being provided to them in this regard.

He said cases under the Anti-Terrorism Act would be registered against those found indulging in firing on Basant. Some 4,000 policemen would be deployed to check violation during the Basant festival.
