HYDERABAD, March 2: Police on Thursday decided to deploy contingents of police in the district ahead of Friday’s country-wide strike on the call of Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal to protest against publication of blasphemous cartoons.

DPO Ali Ahmed Junejo also held a meeting with Ulema of the city. City SP Afzal Mehmood Butt was present in the meeting. The DPO asked Ulema to ensure that no one should take advantage of the situation to disturb peaceful atmosphere of the city by resorting to violence or damaging public or private property.
