FC man killed, four injured in blasts

QUETTA, March 1: A Frontier Corps man was killed and four others injured in two landmine explosions in Mand and Loop areas, while another soldier was injured in fighting between security forces and tribesmen in Pir Koh area on Wednesday.

According to sources the soldier, Mohammad Riaz, was killed in Loop area in a landmine explosion during patrolling.

The sources said four FC men were injured near the Iranian border in Turbat district when the vehicle taking them to their base in Mand from nearby mountains hit a landmine.

Security forces and tribesmen exchanged heavy firing in Pir Koh gas field area. The sources said Amir Bakhsh of the FC was injured in the firing. The fighting continued for more then an hour, during which both sides used heavy weapons, including rockets.

At least five rockets were fired at an FC checkpoint in Karmo-Wadh area of Kahan tehsil. The landed in the open and no casualty was reported.

A pipeline supplying gas to parts of Sindh and Balochistan from Sui was blown up. A device planted under the pipeline supplying gas from Sui to Quetta exploded in Pat Feeder area.
