Triple hat trick by rampaging Cuitino

LAHORE, March 1: Eleven-goal Guillermo Cuitino including three hat tricks stole the show in Diamond Paints 13-8 win over Union Bank in the national Quaid-i-Azam Gold Cup polo at the LPC ground on Wednesday.

A close competition was seen in the first chukker but Cuitino’s first hat trick helped Diamond Paints, came out with 3- 2 lead.

Vishal Singh, who scored six goals for the losers and Shaukat Ali Malik scored one each.

The winners increased the lead to 6-4 in the second chukker as Cuitino grabbed his second hat trick. Vishal added two more.

Four goals in the third chukker by Cuitino made a big difference as Diamond Paints led 10-6.

Vishal struck twice. Maintaining the pace of attacks, the winners forged ahead 13- 6, in the fourth chukker.

Cuitino scored his 11th while Ahmed Ali Tiwana and Asif Tiwana one each. Union Bank scored two goals in the fifth chukker through Shaukat and Vishal but only to reduce the margin.

Six-goal Dhruvpal Godara and four-goal Sattar Niazi starred in Sanofi Aventis 11-9 win over Green Force.

The match started on a fast tempo as four goals were scored and two teams were 2-2.

Godara struck back-to-back goals. Four- goal Mujahid Omar Khan and Khurshid Ahmed slammed one time each for the losers. Sanofi Aventis tightened their grip in the second chukker taking 6-3 lead.

It was the show of Godara and Sattar who netted twice each.

Mujahid reduced the margin for the losers.

The winners surged ahead 7-4 in the third chukker as Iftikhar Ali Khan Simba scored for the winners while Jota Chavanne scored his solitary for the losers.

Green Force bounced back in the fourth chukker to catch up Sanofi 7-7.

Mujahid fired his third goal before Ahmad Nawaz Tiwana added two in the row.

In the fifth chukker, Godara again came to rescue Sanofi by scoring back-to-back goals after the two teams were tied 8-8 in the beginning of the chukker.

Sattar had made the score 8-7 for the winners but soon Mujahid converted a spot penalty near the goalpost to again equalize the score, before Godara excelled for 10-8 lead.

Sattar scored his fourth to increase the lead 11-8 but a dying minute goal from Khurshid Ahmad, his second, reduced the margin.

Six-goal Jose Rivas and three-goal Hissam Ali Hyder were enough to give Bank Alfalah 9-6 win over Lindt Chocolate.

In the first chukker the two teams were level at 2-2 as Rivas scored two while Sufi Muhammad Aamir netted as many goals for the losers.

The bankers gained 4-3 lead in the second chukker. Hissam opened his account while Rivas found the target third time. Four-goal Diego Araya struck his first for the losers.

Hissam scored back-to-back in the third chukker as the bankers were leading 6-4.

Araya converted a 60-yard penalty to score his second.

Rivas gave the winners more impressive lead 8-4 as he struck two more goals.

Rivas completed his hat trick by scoring a goal in the beginning of the fifth chukker, converting a 60-yard penalty hit with a lofted shot.

Araya tried to bring back Lindt Chocolate in the match but he could score only two.
