SUKKUR, March 1: A number of people from Gopang tribesmen staged a sit-in on the national highway near Shaheed Allah Bux park, Jacobabad, on Wednesday. They carried the body of Abdul Rasheed Gopang, who had been killed in an armed clash between Gopang, Syed and Kambrani communities, on Tuesday night, following a minor dispute.
The Syed and Gopang community men had clashed over some minor issue, after which the armed Kambranis came to the rescue of Syeds and opened indiscriminate firing, as a result of which five Gopang tribesmen including Abdul Rasheed Gopang, Shahmir, Gul Mir, Shabbir and Moula Bux received injuries and shifted to Larkana hospital, where Abdul Rasheed succumbed to injuries, while condition of Moula Bux was said to be critical.
Today scores of Gopang tribesmen observed a sit-in at the National Highway near Shaheed Allah Bux Park, by putting the body on the road for two hours. The protesters were raising slogans against the police.
Later a case was registered at the civil lines police station against 12 people including, Dadan Kambrani, Barkat Ali Kambrani, Gulab Shah, Gulan Shan, Yasir Shah and others, but no arrest was made till filing the report.
GUNNED DOWN: A man was gunned down by a group of armed men in the Sanhro Chandio Village, in the jurisdiction of Humayoon police station, Shikarpur district, on Wednes-day. One Mir Hassan, 25, son of Rasool Bux Chandio, was on his way to home.
A group of armed men suddenly emerged, intercepted and shot him dead and fled. Karim Bux Chandio, brother of the deceased, has registered a case against 12 Marfani tribesmen including, hardened criminal Toto Marfani, Kewal Marfani and others, but no arrest was reported.
Police claimed that the reason for the murder was an old enmity.
JSQM: A complete shutter down strike was observed in Jacobabad, Shikarpur, Kandh-kot, Thull and other parts of the interior Sindh, while partial strike was observed in Ghotki on Wednesday, against the arrest of Safdar Sarki, a JSQM leader.
According to the details, on the call of Jaey Sindh Qaumi Movement, complete shutter down strike was observed in Jacobabad, Shikarpur, Kandh-kot, Thull, Kashmore and other parts, while partial strike was observed in Ghotki and other allied areas, to protest against the arrest of secretary general JSQM leader Safdar Sarki.
Besides the shutter down strike, a protest rally was also taken out in Jacobabad.—Correspondent
