KARACHI, March 1: Five ships carrying containers and general cargo and to load fresh fruits are due to arrive at the outer anchorage on Thursday, according to KPT sources.

Berthing activity at the wharves was brisk where six ships, Satha Bhum, APL Pusan, Sinar Bontang, Thor Captain and Kota Wangi to unload and load containers and Asphalt Merchant to unload bitumen were berthed after the departure of four.

The ships, which departed included Orient Independence, Selcom, Song Yun He and Larymina, while Sea Brilliance, APL Pusan, Banglar Gourab, Kota Mesra, Satha Bhum, Kota Wangi, Hyundai Stride and Global Prince are due to sail out on Thursday.

A total tonnage of 70,837 tons comprising 22,672 tons of export cargo including rice and cement and 48,165 tons of import tonnage was handled. The following ships are due on Thursday: Orionis to load 1,500 tons of fresh fruits, Shalamar, with 71,000 tons of crude oil, Golden Express, with containers, Fu Yu Shan and Rickmers Mumba, with general cargo.
