DHAKA, Feb 28: A court in Jhenaidah district on Tuesday sentenced 21 members of the banned Jamaatul Mujahideen, Bangladesh, to death for carrying out explosions on Aug 17 last year as part of a countrywide bombing operation. District and Sessions Judge S.K.M. Anisur Rahman, who is the senior judge of a special tribunal, pronounced the verdict in the presence of 18 of the convicts. Three others are in hiding. The convicts’ relatives and lawyers said they would appeal to the high court.
