Blue Breeze should triumph again

By Anwar Zuberi

KARACHI, Feb 28: Five-year-old bay horse, Blue Breeze, should oblige punters by making it two in a row when the Gymkhana race meeting takes place at the Karachi racecourse on Wednesday.

After having some dismal runs, he sprinted to victory under M. Yousuf in the six furlong race by four lengths on Feb 22 which is an indication of his returning to form.

On Wednesday he will be up against six opponents in the six-furlong concluding race of the programme.

Filly Makina and colt Excalibur have strong credentials to pose him a serious challenge. The former had beaten the latter by two lengths on Sunday.

A card of six races, five going over a distance of five furlongs and one to six, have been drawn for the day. The first race begins at 2.00pm.

The KRC has brought forward the race to avoid clash with Derby which is being held at Lahore on Sunday.

Syed Ali Gohar Shah’s bay horse Deniro who was beaten by mare Sonia in the last outing, is tipped to avenge his defeat by picking up the opener. He should be chased by Sonia and filly Bright And Early for the places.

With a good lad up, four-year-old colt, Victory Symbol, should pick up the spoils in the second race which had a field of 16.

He was not given a fair deal by the connections in the last meeting thus denying him an opportunity to triumph.

He should be followed by Al Zarrar and Baba Jani for the places.

Born to Lucky Concept-Lady Fantan thoroughbred Lovely Concept looks a good thing to win the next race. He is drawn in a pack of 13 aspirants.

Jaguar and Street Fighter should fight for the places.

The fourth race should see Gold Disc winning honours while Al Jarrar should attain honours in the next.
