CEC asked to ensure voting by jailed MPAs

By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Feb 28: Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) chairman Raja Zafarul Haq has asked the acting chief election commissioner to ensure the presence of jailed party MNAs in the National Assembly during the Senate elections.

According to a party spokesman, Mr Haq in a letter asked the acting CEC to take steps to bring acting PML-N president Makhdoom Javed Hashmi and MNA Khwaja Saad Rafiq to the National Assembly on March 10, so that they could use their democratic and constitutional rights.

Mr Haq said if the two MNAs were not allowed to cast their votes in the Senate polls, then it would negate democratic norms.

NOMINATED: PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif has nominated Fahim Riaz Siddiqui as the secretary-general of the party’s lawyers wing.
