KARACHI: Declamation contest

KARACHI, Feb 27: The Mama Parsi Girl’s Secondary School and Hamdard Public School won the winner and runners up trophies respectively at the 15th All Pakistan Invitation Inter-School Bilingual Declamation contest of the Habib Public School (HPS) on Monday.

Teams from 17 schools participated in the competitions held in English and Urdu, while a former principal of Habib Girls’ School, Zubaida Dossal, was the chief guest on the occasion.

The panel of judges comprised Dr Shakilur Rehman Farooqi, M. B. Ahmad, Seema Siraj, Qamar Safdar, Pamela Yousuf and Zakia Sarwar.

In his welcome address HPS Principal Wg Cdr (retd) Qazi M. Saleem said that the contests were being organized since 1991.

The results of the competitions are as follows: English declamation; 1st-Usman Hasan Khan of Hamdard Public School, 2nd- Sohaib Hashmi of Karachi Grammar School, 3rd-Kaneez Zainab of City School and special prize for Umama Saleem of Mama Parsi Girls’ School. Urdu Declamation; 1st-Farwa Hasan of Mama Parsi Girl’ School, 2nd-Sundus Yousuf of Bahria College, 3rd-Sukaina Rupani of Habib Girls’ School and a special prize for Syed Hassan Ali of Hamdard Public School. Overall, Mama Parsi School got 139 points, while Hamdard Public School, the winner of the last year contest, got 137 points.
