KARACHI: PMA opposes contractual hiring

KARACHI, Feb 27: The Pakistan Medical Association on Monday expressed its concern about the proposal of health department regarding the recruitment of doctors in health facilities on contract basis.

The PMA said that the government had planned to bypass the Sindh Public Service Commission because of irregularities in previous examination. It said that instead of reforming the SPSC and making it effective and responsible, the government had given its task to the health department. “It is not the job of health department to go through the recruitment procedure. It will only open a new chapter of corruption. The favourable people will be appointed because of their connections and other reasons,” the PMA stated.

The association demanded that the SPSC should be strengthened and all appointments and promotions should be done only through transparent mechanism. It appealed to the governor to stop recruitment on contract basis. —PPI
