Two-day athletics attracts big field

KARACHI, Feb 26: Upcoming boy and girl athletes of local government educational institutions, who seldom get a chance to prove their mettle, will vie for honours when the two-day athletics meet begins at the National Sports Training and Coaching Centre (NSTCC) on Monday.

The PSB owned NSTCC has provided free tartan track facilities for the meet which is being held in collaboration with the education department, CDGK.

Approximately 1000 budding athletes representing around 100 government boys and girls schools are expected to turn up at the meet, Ms Roshan Ara Syed, district officer education, schools CDGK, said on Sunday.

Events (Boys): 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 4 x 100m relay, 4 x 400m relay, high jump, long jump, shot put and discus throw. (Girls’): 100m, 200m, 400m, 4 x 100m relay, high jump, long jump, shot put and discus throw.
