Peshawar bank robbed of Rs65m


PESHAWAR, Feb 25: A branch of the Bank Al-Faysal in Karkhano Market situated near tribal border was on Saturday robbed by armed men who decamped with Rs5.6 million and $1 million cash.

According to police, the culprits made security guard of the bank hostage at gunpoint and opened the main gate of the branch. The robbers who were believed to be six in number, tied the security guard with ropes inside the branch.

Two of the robbers took positions at the main gate of the branch and made the staff hostage. They also detained bank manager and snatched keys of the strong room. The robbers collected the money from the safe that included one million US dollars and 5.6 million rupees and fled.

Peshawar police claimed they have arrested three accused soon after the robbery.—APP
