NAWABSHAH, Feb 25: The district administration on Saturday started verification of the land owned by Asif Ali Zardari after receiving a letter from the accountability court to confiscate his property.

The accountability court in Rawalpindi ordered on Friday confiscation of some lands of Mr Zardari in Sanghar, Nawabshah and Hyderabad districts for not attending a trial in the BMW case.

DCO Abdul Razzaq Qureshi confirmed that the letter had been received and he had directed the EDO, revenue, to take action accordingly.

EDO Dr Baqaullah Unnar said the case had been sent to the Mukhtiarkar of Nawabshah for verification of the property of Mr Zardari.

The assistant Mukhtiarkar said Tapedars concerned of Nawabshah and Daur talukas had been directed to verify the property – agriculture land in Deh 23, Dad, and Deh 76, Nusrat, and a plot.

He said the report would be available by Monday and sent to authorities.

Passport office: A passport office will start functioning in the district from July.

DCO Abdul Razzaq Qureshi told Dawn here on Saturday that the office would issue machine-readable passports to people of Nawabshah, Sanghar and Naushahro Feroze districts.
