KARACHI: WSF gets govt support

By Our Reporter

KARACHI, Feb 25: The State Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Anisa Zeb Tahirkheli, on Saturday assured the organizers of the World Social Forum in Karachi that the government would do everything possible to facilitate the visit of foreign visitors to the forthcoming five-day-long event.

Speaking to the media coordinator of the WSF, she said the event would raise the profile of Karachi, and project a positive image of the country. “For this fact alone, the government itself is interested in ensuring that the forum is held smoothly.”

She was informed about the difficulties that a number of potential visitors, especially those from India, were facing at the Pakistani High Commission when applying for a visa. The minister assured of her support in getting the issue resolved. She asked the organizers to expedite the list of those having problems in getting visas.
