Man shot dead in ambush; five vehicles stolen

By Our Staff Reporter

RAWALPINDI, Feb 24: A man was shot dead and three received injuries in an ambush by a rival group on Kurri Road here on Friday, police said. Raja Shahid alias Kaloo, Raja Ezrum, the uncle of Mr Shahid, and another relative, Sardar Muhammad Asghar, were going home in a car when Raja Kamran alias Kami, sitting in a car allegedly ambushed them. As a result, Raja Shahid was killed on the spot, while Raja Ezrum, Sardar Asghar and a passer-by were injured in the attack.

SP Investigations Ehsan Sadiq said that the incident was the outcome of a property dispute between the two groups of a family. He said the two groups tried to settle their dispute on Friday but failed to reach a settlement. He ruled out involvement of sectarianism in the case.

Meanwhile, robbers looted Rs72,000 and cell phones from the passengers of a van after blocking the road in Jatli, while five people were deprived of their vehicles in different parts of Rawalpindi on Thursday.
