More rejects idea of bowling coach


Vadodara, Feb 23: The chairman of Indian cricket selectors, Kiran More, has said there is no need for a bowling coach as the present squad is performing well without him.

He said that he agreed with the idea that more work needed to be done in the fast bowling department.

“Internationally, it is fast bowlers who are winning matches. We have a young crop of fast bowlers like R. P. Singh, Sreesanth, S. S. Paul and others. We need to have eight or nine bowlers ready,” he said.

More, however, showed his satisfaction with coach Greg Chappell and said, “He has done it excellently not only with batsmen but also with bowlers.”

Performance of young fast bowlers was a proof that the present system was working well.

“In Pakistan, the fast bowlers did a fantastic job,” he said.

More said they were not worried about the spin department as they had enough spin bowling options available.— PPI
