VEHARI, Feb 23: Two sisters were shot dead by their brother over honour in Muslim Town here on Thursday.

Reports said that Naveed Akhter had filed a divorce suit against her husband Zulfiqar. On Thursday, Naveed along with her sister Kaneez was going to appear in a court when their brother Ashraf stopped them and opened fire on them. As a result, both of them died on the spot. Kaneez was now residing with her mother.

Meanwhile, police arrested the accused and also recovered from him the weapon. The DPO said the investigation would be carried out on merit.

Talking to Dawn, the accused said he had killed his sisters due to their bad character as both of them had relations with one Falak Sher of the same locality. He said that he had repeatedly asked them to mend their ways, but to no avail.

Police handed over the bodies after the post-mortem to their mother Fazlan Bibi on whose report a case was registered.
