QUETTA, Feb 23: Opposition parties in Balochistan and the Pakistan Oppressed Nations Movement (Ponm) have decided to boycott an all-party conference convened by the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) in Karachi on Feb 25.

This was announced here on Thursday by Senator Sanaullah Baloch, who is the central information secretary of the Balochistan National Party (BNP-M).

Senator Baloch said that all opposition parties of the province, including BNP-Mengal, Jamhoori Watan Party (JWP), Pukhtunkhawa Milli Awami Party (PMAP) and the National Party would boycott the conference.

According to him, opposition parties were of the view that all coalition partners of the present government were responsible for the alleged wrongdoings of the rulers.

“The MQM is an active part of the present government … and Balochistan is facing problems due to the government’s policies,” he said.

The senator said that Awami National Party chief Asfandyar Wali had informed him that his party would also decide not to attend the APC.

The APC was convened with the purpose of discussing the issues of Balochistan and provincial autonomy.
