ISLAMABAD Feb 23: Three British MPs on Thursday visited a tented village in H-11 sector and inaugurated a computer lab that has been donated by an NGO “Helping Hand” for school at the camp. They were accompanied by the minister of state for overseas Pakistanis Tariq Azim

The school infrastructure including shelters have been provided by the group of British MPs and some well-to-do overseas Pakistanis.

The same team of MPs is working on provision of durable fabricated shelter houses in Azad Kashmir, Balakot and other areas of NWFP.

Speaking on the occasion, MP Chaudhry Sarwar from Scotland highlighted the efforts that were put in place by the overseas Pakistanis immediately after the October 8 earthquake.

Apart from 222 million pounds he said the Muslim community had also raised 100 million pounds to help their brothers who suffered in northern Pakistan and AJK.

He spoke highly of the constructive role the media had played in highlighting the woes of the earthquake victims which had diverted the world attention towards this human tragedy.

Tariq Azim welcomed the noble gesture of compatriot Pakistanis settled in Scotland and Britain which would go a long way in mitigating the sufferings of the earthquake victims.

He introduced MPs Muhammad Sarwar, Khalid Malik and Shahid Salim Malik, Raja Hanif, Chaudhry Sharif and Maqbool Rasool as moving spirit behind the relief work that the people of Scotland had initiated.

He said that the government in its relief activities for the quake victims had put major stress on rehabilitation of educational institutions for the children to bring them out of the trauma.
