PESHAWAR, Feb 22: Surveillance cameras would be installed at various places in the city to monitor the protest demonstrations on Friday, an official statement said on Wednesday.

Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Habibur Rehman, who chaired a meeting at the Police Headquarters here, formed six teams for the maintenance of the law and order situation and smooth flow of traffic during the demonstrations.

Opposition parties have given a call for a country-wide strike on Friday to protest against the publication of blasphemous cartoons in some European newspapers.

The CCPO urged the law-enforcers to tighten up security in their respective areas during the protest rallies and asked them to take strict action if anyone tried to damage public or private property during the demonstrations.

The six teams had also been entrusted to provide protection to the public and private property on that day, said the official statement.

All SHOs have been to make films of demonstrations in their respective jurisdictions for the purpose to identify those who attempt to damage the public or private properties.
