‘Concern conveyed to Afghanistan’

By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Feb 22: Islamabad has conveyed its concerns to Kabul about involvement of Indian consulate in Afghanistan in subvrsive activities in Balochistan, said Interior Minister Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao on Wednesday.

“We discussed the issue of infiltration into Balochistan with President Hamid Karzai during his visit to Pakistan recently,” the minister told reporters after a meeting that reviewed law and order situation in the country.

He said the Afghan president had assured Pakistan that he would look into the matter.

Referring to Mr Karzai’s statement that he had provided to the Pakistani authorities with a list of the Taliban operatives hiding in Pakistan, Mr Sherpao said: “It is not a new development. Whenever we meet we exchange information on the issues of mutual concern and the two sides discuss ways to combat terrorism.”

The minister said that Pakistan had also handed over to Mr Karzai a list of terrorists who committed heinous crimes in Pakistan and then took refuge in Afghanistan.

Answering a question about Chinese engineers’ murder in Hub, he said the investigation authorities had found important clues.
