Khawer elected member BFA Development Committee

LAHORE, Feb 21: Khawer Shah, secretary Pakistan Federation of Baseball and Softball (PFBS) has been elected as member of the Development Committee of the Baseball Federation of Asia (BFA).

The BFA executive committee elected the development committee at a meeting held in Seoul, South Korea the other day. Khawer, who attended the meeting, said Yoshinobu Suzuki of Japan was elected as chairman of the committee while Vutichai of Thailand as member.

He said the committee had the major task to promote and introduce the game in new countries, especially in Central Asia, Middle East and remaining countries of South Asian region including Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Maldives and Afghanistan.

Khawar said that the development committee would also take measures to build baseball stadium in Pakistan and to promote the game at grassroots level. The meeting also decided to appoint a South Korean as chairman technical committee to conduct the 7th Asia Cup in Rawalpindi, Pakistan from April 20 to 26.

Besides Pakistan, the other participating countries are India, Iran, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Hong Kong and Mongolia. He said that the PFBS president Shaukat Javed would preside over a high level meeting at Pindi Stadium, Rawalpindi on March 6 to give final shape to all arrangements for the Asia Cup.
