ISLAMABAD, Feb 21: The Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) of the Ministry of Health on Tuesday promoted 54 officers in the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims), Federal Government Services Hospital (FGSG) commonly known as Polyclinic and National Institute of Child Health (NICH) and Jinnah Post Graduate Medical College (JPMC), Karachi.

Presided over by secretary, Health, Anwar Mehmood, DPC comprised the director general health and incharge of different government hospitals. Out of 54, 25 officers were either absorbed or promoted in BS-17 grade, 20 in BS-18 and nine in BS-19.

In Pims, Dr Ali Akhtar, senior registrar (Orthopaedic) was promoted as Assistant Professor (BS-18), Dr Rizwan Hameed Malik, medical officer (MO), was promoted to senior registrar (orthopaedic) BS-18, Dr SH Waqar, senior registrar (general surgery) to assistant professor (general surgery) BS-18, and Dr Mumtaz, senior registrar (general surgery) to assistant professor (general surgery) BS-18 on acting charge basis.

Similarly, medical officers, Dr Naheed Shahid, Dr Gulbin Shahid, Dr Maqbool Hussain and Dr Anwar-ul-Haq were upgraded to senior registrar (Paeds Surgery) BS-18, while medical officers Dr Arshad Mahmood Janjua, Dr Riffat Kamal and Dr Ashok Kumar were placed from BS-18 to BS-19 under improvement scheme.

Medical officers, Dr Farida Ali, Dr Mohammad Ramzan, Dr Maqbool Hussain and Dr Anwar-ul-Haq were upgraded from BS-17 to BS-18.

Ms Stella Nazir, Nursing Instructor was promoted to vice principal (BS-18) School of Nursing. Ms Florance Greeta, Nursing Supervisor was made the nursing superintendent (BS-18), while nursing instructors Ms Ghazala Iqbal and Ms Tasleem Malik were also promoted to nursing superintendent (BS-18).

Nursing Supervisor, Ms Humaira Hushnud was promoted to the post of nursing instructor (BS-18), while Syed Bunaid Haider Shah Sub-Engineer (HVAC) BS-11 was promoted to assistant engineer (HVAC) BS-17.

Head nurses, Ms Nusrat Jabeen, Ms Nasim Sohail and Ms Safia Sultana were promoted to nursing instructors (BS-17) and head nurse Ms Razia Peter was upgraded to Nursing Supervisor (BS-17).

POLYCLINIC: Medical Officer, FGSG, Dr Tariq Masood was promoted to Civil Surgeon (BS-18) FGSG, while MO Naveed Yaqoob was promoted to associate physician (medicine) BS-18. Superintendent Mohammad Elahi was promoted to administrative officer (BS-17), while MOs Dr Riaz Ahmed and Dr Naseem Begum were placed from BS-18 to BS-19 under the Improvement Scheme. Dr Ayesha Isani, MO, was absorbed and permanently transferred to PIMS.

NICH KARACHI: Mrs Margaret Rose, Head Nurse (BS-16) was promoted to nursing tutor (BS-17) and assistant nursing superintend (BS-16) to the same post in BS-17.

JPMC KARACHI: Head nurses (BS-16) Rut K Alam, Mariam Fauzia, Sabiha Sultan, Rabina Shaheen, Nasreen Begum and Nahid Jamal were promoted to nursing instructors (BS-17).

Similarly, head nurses (BS-16) Samina Chughtai, Shamim Yaqoob, Shahnawaz, Durr-e-Shawar, Venus Shamira, Nasreen Sundar Dass, Azra John Samuel, Bilqees Saeed and Elizabeth Gil were placed in BS-17.

Medical Technologists (BS-16) Ijaz Ali and Ghulam Mustafa Abro were placed in BS-17.

MOs Dr Tahseen Khurshid and Dr Imtiaz A Siddiqui were placed in BS-19.

In central health establishment, Karachi Ms Dr Neik Jehan and Dr Preetum Dass were placed from BS-18 to BS-19.

There are three sanctioned posts of head nurse (BS-17) in the National Institute for Handicapped, Islamabad. According to the Recruitment Rules, 50 per cent posts are to be filled in by promotion and the remaining 50 per cent by direct recruitment.

The committee was informed that no post has so far been filled by promotion in the National Institute for Handicapped, Islamabad. At present, Mrs Nasreen Akhtar was the only staff nurse who was holding a diploma in ward administration, therefore, only she was eligible to be promoted, the committee was proposed.
