KARACHI, Feb 21: A meeting of the principals of the Teachers’ Training Colleges offering BEd/MEd was held under the chairmanship of Dr Akhlaq Ahmed, pro-vice-chancellor, University of Karachi here on Tuesday.
Dr Akhlaq briefed the principals regarding the quality of BEd and MEd exams and advised them to submit their proposals for the revision of curriculum and improvement of the conduct of exams.
He also appointed a committee of four principals to be headed by the principal of Notre Dame Institute of Education to restructure the syllabus and create a bank of questions both MCQ’s and short answers and submit to the Board of Studies.
It was also noticed that the tenure of the members of the Board of Studies had expired and as such new members were to be appointed. The meeting also decided that the internal and external examination papers be moderated through the Board of Studies.
It was also agreed that short term diploma/ certificate courses be offered on specific subjects related to training of teachers. Proposals in this regard will be submitted by the committee. It was also proposed in the meeting that a 3-year BEd programme in science be started after intermediate. These proposals will be discussed in Board of Studies meeting and then presented at the Academic Council meeting.—APP
