LAHORE, Feb 19: Shoaib Bokhari, with a three- day aggregate 232 emerged as Punjab Amateur champion at the Royal Palm Club course on Sunday.

Shoaib, who improved his performance on every day was at second position on Saturday with three contenders — Imran Ahmed, Shumayl Aziz, Aadil Jehangir — jointly occupying top position.

The champion added a card of 77 to his two-day aggregate 155 to make a one stroke difference to runner-up Waseem Rana, Imran and defending champion Aadil to clinch the title.

But Shoaib faced many twists and turns over the past three days at the demanding course before succeeding in edging past quite a few challengers.

Waseem got second position on the basis of producing better card of 77 on final day as at the end he was tied with overnight three overnight leaders Aadil, Shumayl and Imran with aggregate 233.

Aadil and Imran posted poor card of nine-over-par-81 each while Shumayl of 10-over-par-82.

Aadil remained third for playing better over the last nine holes as compared to Imran.

In the net event Dildar Hussain of Lahore Gymkhana completed his final round impressively with 68 and ended up with an aggregate 215 to win.

Saleem Raza of Gujranwala also had a similar score (215) but he was declared runners-up, as the winner had produced better card on the final day.

Moreover, the best net round’s prize went to Shahid Ahmed Khan, Shahid Abbas and Amir Mehmood and best gross rounds to Shumayl Aziz, Daniyal Jehangir and Mir Maaz Mehmood.

The winner of the Veterans’s event was Arif Khan while Fayyaz Ghani came in second.

A cheque of Rs3 million which had been collected by English and ex-Pakistani Test cricketers, for the relief activities of the earthquake’s victims was given to, chairman Federal Relief commission.
