Situation in Hangu normalizing: minister

By Our Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Feb 19: Life in Hangu and its surrounding areas is heading towards normalization due to the tireless efforts of the provincial and federal governments.

This was stated by Federal Minister of Tourism Dr G.G. Jamal while holding a meeting with a Jirga that included representatives of both sects. The meeting was also attended by political administration and army personnel.

While holding meeting with elders of both communities, the minister discussed the overall situation and ways and means to avoid such clashes in future. The Jirga expressed deep sorrow over the sad event of Muharram 10 and assured that they would support the government in restoration of peace in Hangu.

The minister also told the Jirga that he along with MNAs Dr Naseem Afridi and Munir Orakazai had met Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz regarding the situation in Hangu. Mr Aziz also expressed his deep sorrow over the sad event and called it a useless exercise which was neither in the interest of the nation nor religion, the minister said.
