KARACHI: Steps for by-poll reviewed

KARACHI, Feb 19: A meeting was held here on Saturday to review the arrangements made for the by-election to the National Assembly constituency NA-210 Jacobabad III being held on Feb 25.

Chief Election Commissioner of Pakistan Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar who chaired the meeting, was briefed by the Provincial Election Commissioner, Chaudhry Qamar-uz-Zaman, about the arrangements made so far.

The district returning officer, Kashmore, informed the meeting all arrangements had been finalized.

The regional police officer, Sukkur, gave a comprehensive briefing on law and order in the constituency and the security steps taken for the election.

Sindh chief secretary assured the meeting that the provincial government would take all possible steps to maintain law and order on the polling day.

Justice Dogar directed participants of the meeting to ensure that the by-election was held in a peaceful, fair and transparent manner.

Justice Mohammad Sadiq Legahri, Member Election Commission and Kanwar Mohammad Dilshad, Federal Secretary, Election Commission, and other officials attended the meeting.—PPI
