LAHORE, Feb 18: Aadil Jehangir, the first day’s leader, Shumyal Aziz, the first day runners-up, with Imran Ahmed are jointly occupying top position with two days’ aggregate 152, each, despite posting modest card, on the penultimate day of 29th Punjab amateur golf championship on Saturday.
Aadil, who played an under-par round on the first day, returned a sluggish card of nine-over-par-81 but managed to hold his top position, mainly because the story with the other six top golfers was not different with him.
Adil’s round of 81 was the result of three birdies, seven pars, six bogeys and two triple bogeys.
Imran Ahmad, who was out of the race on first day with a card of two-over-74, though played more badly on Saturday yet finishing the round with six-over-par-78 to be bracketed with the leaders.
Shumayl also faltered to add a card of eight-over-par-80 to first day fine card of 72.
In the men’s net, Saleem Raza of Gujranwala is in the lead with a net score of 140, closely followed by Shaban Alam, Tariq Iqbal and Shahid Abbas, all placed at the second with net score 142.
Javed A. Khan, captain of Wapda golf team emerged as the winner of the Seniors event with a gross score of 79. Abdul Haq of Peshawar is the runner-up and Fassih came third.
In the ladies’ section, Fakeha of Karachi emerged as new champion while Jamila Jabbar claimed second position.
