Aie Bahar fancied to stretch her run of wins
KARACHI, Feb 18: Five-year-old mare Aie Bahar is fancied to stretch her run of victories to three when the Gymkhana race meeting takes place at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.
Drawn in the six furlongs last race of the programme in a pack of seven contenders, Shah Mardan Shah Pir Pagara’s mare is our days best and should oblige the punters.
Trained by Mumtaz Ali, she has improved by leaps and bounds crossing the finishing post 12 lengths ahead of her closest opponent Haseena-e-Arab in her last outing on Feb 15.
Bay horse Lucky Step and thoroughbred Blue Breeze should come up with good performance to secure the following two places.
A card of seven races, two going over a distance of six furlongs and remaining to five, has been chalked out for the day. The first race begins at 1.00pm.
Dr. Abdul Karim’s bay horse King Of The Field and Haji Khuda Bux Rajar’s mare Smiling Face who sprinted to victory on Wednesday are poised to repeat their winning feat.
With eight contenders in fray, King Of The Field should grab the third race. He gave sterling performance winning the previous race by a wide margin of 11 lengths.
He should be chased by Azam The Great and Auzy for the next two places.
Having won the last fixture by eight lengths, Smiling Face is tipped to make it two in a row by picking up the fifth race. It is a div 1 race restricted for Pakistani horses in class V11.
However, to accomplish the task, she had to overcome Victory Symbol, Yes Naeem and Laat Sahib. If tried, the latter can upset the applecart.
Eight-year-old bay horse, Super Time who had to be content with third place in previous race, is tipped to make amends by picking the opener. He should be chased by Jallali and Rashk-e-Rawan.
Pitted with a pack of 14 runners, colt Powerful Gambler is fancied to pick up spoils in the next event. He should be followed by Eager Saint and Al Jarrar.
In a strongest field of 18, the fourth race should see eight-year-old Deniro winning honours. Sonia and Baba Jani should fight for places.
Chestnut Bilal Choice who was outpaced by Miss Milee in last meeting, is tipped to make amends Sunday. However, he had to overcome Silver City and Scarface.
