LAHORE, Feb 18: Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has set up a committee with Chaudhry Zaheeruddin as its convener which will determine the extent of damage caused to the public and private property by the Tuesday violence.
The committee has been directed to submit its report in a week. So far, the government has not taken any decision on whether to compensate those affected by the violence. District Nazim Mian Amer Mehmud, DCO and some other people are members of the committee.
Meanwhile, in a damage control bid, district nazim Mian Amer Mahmood visited Telenor’s regional offices in Gulberg and vowed that the city district government would ensure the protection of private and public property in the provincial metropolis.
Talking to company representatives, he said that city district government had taken necessary security measures.
He condemned the destruction of Telenor offices on the Shahrah-i-Quaid-i-Azam during Feb 14 protests.
