KARACHI: Tree-cutting condemned

KARACHI, Feb 18: The All-Pakistan Furniture Exporters Association on Saturday condemned the illegal cutting of Sheesham trees in the country. Chairman of the association, addressing a meeting of its executive committee, stated that the furniture industry was concerned over the continued illegal practice of chopping the precious Sheesham trees in various parts of the country. He urged the government to effectively stop the practice.

The executive committee adopted a resolution which urged the government to immediately set up a ‘federal timber board’ and an advisory council to regulate and monitor the country’s natural forest resources. —PPI
