Jahangir emerges leader

LAHORE, Feb 17: Aadil Jahangir posted a one under 71 to emerge as the opening day’s leader in the 29th Punjab amateur golf championship at the Royal Palm Club on Friday.

Aadil set the pace, but was threatened by Shumayl Aziz, who played a par round.

The leader had 26 putts and birdies on 1st, 3rd, 13th and 15th. He had a double bogie on the 4th, a 3-par hole.

A stroke behind is Sardar Shumayl Aziz. He lost strokes on 1st, 7th and 13th with birdies on 3rd, 5th and 15th. At 74, Imran Ahmed and Shoaib Bokhari are joint third.

Ninety three amateurs teed off on the opening day and 64 became eligible to continue participation on the second day.

In the ladies section, Fakhea Ambreen is leading the board with a gross score of 84 followed by Jamila Jabbar at 87.
