By Our Staff Reporter

RAWALPINDI, Feb 17: Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N)’s MNA Saad Rafiq was arrested by the Punjab police from Islamabad on Friday and shifted to some undisclosed location, sources said.

The party spokesman, Siddiqul Farooq, told Dawn that Mr Rafiq was taking tea at a restaurant in Blue Area when some security personnel in plain clothes took him into custody.

The MNA was taken to some place in Rawalpindi, from where he was expected to be shifted to Lahore, he said.

The PML-N leader was picked up in connection with the recent acts of violence in Lahore which resulted in loss of lives and damage to property.

When contacted for comments on Mr Rafiq’s arrest, DIG Rawalpindi Syed Moravat Ali Shah was not available.
