FAISALABAD, Feb 16: Joint teams of the local police and Rangers have been deployed at all sensitive spots of the city, especially outside religious seminaries, educational institutions and commercial centres to avert any eventuality.

Following violence during strike and demonstrations against the publication of blasphemous caricatures on Tuesday, teams visited the local educational institutions and seminaries asking the respective management not to allow students to come on roads.

A joint flag march of the Rangers and police was also arranged in various city areas to provide a sense of security to the people.

Religious leaders and political parties representatives have been asked by the administration not to give any call for protest rallies and demonstration following a ban imposed by the Punjab government.

However, local religious organisations, trade bodies and PPP have given protest calls for Friday (today).

All Pakistan Sizing Industries Association have also announced complete strike in the country on Feb 20 and decided to take out a rally from Madina Town to Clock Tower intersection.

Meanwhile, the Kotwali police have registered a case against 800 unidentified protesters for damaging public and private property on Tuesday.
