Zaradri’s arrest warrants issued

ISLAMABAD, Feb 15: An accountability court on Wednesday issued arrest warrants against former senator Asif Ali Zardari in the SGS case. According to the National Accountability Bureau, the court declared Mr Zardari a proclaimed offender having given him an opportunity to appear in 48 days.

The court fixed the next hearing on Feb 22.

In the case, Mr Zardari has been accused of illegally acquiring assets beyond his known sources of income.

According to NAB, its prosecutor in the next hearing of the case, will file an application for confiscation of Mr Zardari’s assets.

The court directed the prosecution to present witnesses from the Central Board of Revenue on Feb 22.

CBR’s ex-chairman A.R. Siddiqui also appeared in the case.

According to the bureau, former prime minister Benazir Bhutto and Mr Zardari had already been declared proclaimed offenders in the case followed by issuance of red notices by Interpol.
