PIA’s fate sealed by Hafeez

KARACHI, Feb 15: A brilliant unbeaten century by Mohammad Hafeez dashed PIA’s slim hopes of reaching the Patron’s Cup semifinals at the NBP Sports Complex on Wednesday.

Hafeez, the former Test opener who made 137 the other day, blasted eight fours and four sixes in scoring 112 off 104 balls as Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL) raced to a moderate target of 178 at the start of the 33rd over.

PIA, who needed win in the last Group ‘A’ fixture to stay in hunt, earlier crashed to 177 all out in 49.2 overs.

Asif Mujtaba, the ex-Test left-hander, was the top-scorer with a fighting 64.
