KARACHI: Free IT centre opens in Liaquatabad


KARACHI, Feb 15: A free IT awareness centre was opened in Liaquatabad on Wednesday. Sindh Minister for Planning and Development Syed Shoaib Ahmed Bukhari performed the inauguration along with Adviser to chief minister on Information technology Mohammad Noman Saigal.

The facility has been created by the Sindh Information Technology Department with a view to promoting the IT awareness and education in the province.

It has also embarked on establishing a network of IT awareness centres in Sindh.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Shoaib Bukhari said the government was undertaking planning for the promotion of computer education and IT in both the urban and rural areas of the province.

He praised the efforts of the Sindh IT Department for the setting up of the free IT awareness centres. The centre in Liaquatabad has been equipped with 10 latest P-4 computers with the internet facility.

Speaking on the occasion, Noman Saigal said that as many as 400 IT awareness centres would be established in rural and urban areas of the province in the next four to six months.

He said the Sindh IT Department was doing its best for the promotion of IT.

Noman Saigal said there was no dearth of talent in the country and that we should provide our youngsters the opportunities to benefit from the latest technology.

Nazim of the Liaquatabad Town Osama Qadri was also present on the occasion. — APP
