Horse-racing: Lucky Step fancied to make it four in a row
KARACHI, Feb 14: Five-year-old bay horse, Lucky Step, is fancied to make it four in a row when the Gymkhana race meeting takes place at the Karachi Racecourse on Wednesday after two-week break for Muharram.
Owned by Raja Rehmatullah Khansatti and trained by Ziaur Rehman, Lucky Step has won three races on the trot and looks certain to maintain his winning sequence. In the first two races, he was ridden home by Riaz Muhammad while Muhammad Essa was in the saddle once.
The colt is drawn in a pack of nine contestants in the six furlongs fourth race of the programme which is restricted to Pakistani horses in class V div 1 and 11.
He should be confronted by Syed Hasan Ali’s chestnut, Jingu and Tanveer Mirza’s bay colt, Zidane.
A card of eight races, six going over a distance of five furlongs and remaining to six, has been chalked out for the day. The first race begins at 1.00pm.
Trained by owner, Talib Hussain, seven-year-old mare Royal Beauty is fancied to stretch his winning run by grabbing the five furlongs opener. She triumphed by four lengths on Jan 25.
She should be chased by mare Ultimate Victory and Jaguar for the places in a field of 11 aspirants.
King Of The Field should dominate the next race by making amends for the previous losses. Bay horse Super Time and filly Jet Zone enjoy an edge over others to settle for places.
Shah Mardan Shah Pir Pagara’s mare Aie Bahar is poised to outpace opponents in the third race to register second consecutive victory. She should be followed by Kicking King and Countess Mah Again.
The fifth race should see bay horse Auzy making amends by capturing the event.
It is a div 1V-A class V11 race with a field of 12 contestants barring last minute withdrawls. Chand Aya and Double Deal should fight for places.
In addition to Aie Bahar, Shah Mardan Shah Pir Pagara’s two horses Al Jarrar and Al Zarrar are tipped to clinch honours in the sixth and concluding races.
