HYDERABAD, Feb 14: The University of Sindh has launched tent classes following an increase in the number of students in disciplines of English and Mass Communication.
Vice-Chancellor Mazharul Haq Siddiqui inaugurated the classes at the faculty of arts building on Tuesday.
The deans of faculties, heads of various institutes and departments and a large number of students attended the inaugural ceremony.
The vice-chancellor said that it was revival of Plato’s academy who used to hold classes under trees.
He said that due to growing number of students in various disciplines, the university was making efforts to provide accommodation.
He said that for the time being classes would be held under the shamiyana.
He urged the students to avoid self-granted leave culture and attend their classes regularly.
The construction of separate building is under process while the university has already completed extension of classes for the department of international relations, the vice chancellor said.
The vice chancellor also inaugurated two computer laboratories at the faculty of arts building for the classes of computer fundamentals discipline for first and second semester of the students of faculty of social science under newly launched four-years BS degree programme.
The university has provided 42 computers in two computer laboratories for students of five disciplines including general history, sociology, psychology, social work and political science.
