KARACHI, Feb 14: Sindh Governor Ishratul Ibad said on Tuesday that the master plan for Karachi should encompass future needs keeping in view the projected population in 2030, adding, if population growth is not taken into account realistically, the entire exercise will go to waste.

He said survey of at least two union councils of each town be conducted in order to come up with concrete figures.

Agreeing with a proposal that a vision statement should be prepared for 2030 under which a road map may be drawn, he said clear picture must be in mind what Karachi should look like 24 years from now.

He appreciated the opinion that all future loans should be need based, including the loan promised by the ADB for preparation of master plan. He also asked for a list of ongoing federal projects in Sindh to ensure their timely completion.

He directed the officers of the Sindh Government to finalize the PC-II in consultation with Advisor Infrastructure Dr Asad Ali Shah.
