Bangladeshi PM visits relief camp
ISLAMABAD, Feb 13: Bangladesh Prime Minister Khaleda Zia on Monday visited H-11 tent village and met earthquake survivors who were brought to the capital immediately after last October’s tragedy.
The prime minister visited a small hospital and a school set up at the facility and sponsored by Turkish Red Crescent.
Schoolchildren, waving Pakistani, Bangladeshi and Turkish flags, welcomed the Bangladeshi prime minister and presented her a bouquet.
She later went to the hospital run by the Turkish Red Crescent and inquired about the health of children being treated for minor ailment at the facility.
Earlier, Health Minister Nasir Khan received the prime minister on her arrival at the camp.
The Capital Development Authority (CDA) chairman, Kamran Lashari, briefed the visiting dignitary about the government’s relief and reconstruction efforts in collaboration with donor countries, agencies and non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
The H-11 tent village was one of the 12 relief camps established in Islamabad after the earthquake in AJK and the NWFP.—app
