SUKKUR, Feb 13: On call of the JUI a procession was taken out and a sit-in was observed in Kandhkot on Monday against publication of blasphemous caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) by some European newspapers.
Hundreds of activists led by Siraj Shah and Haji Rasheed Sial took out the procession which reached the clock tower where the protesters staged a sit-in for an hour.
The protesters slammed the publication and burnt flag of Denmark.
HYDERABAD: Journalists of Hyderabad held a protest demonstration on Monday to condemn the publication of sacrilegious caricatures of Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in Danish and other western newspapers.
Led by Hyderabad Press Club president Iqbal Mallah, general secretary Shahid Shaikh and other senior journalists, they raised slogans against the biased European media.
Demanding action against the Danish and European press, they urged the UN to perform its role in this regard.
KHAIRPUR: Protest meetings were held by the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam in Khuhra, Priyaloi, Ranipur, Thari Mirwah and Khairpur towns of the district.
They were protesting against American bombing on Bajaur Agency and Denmark and French governments.
JUI leader Maulana Mir Mohammad Meerak told reporters that the main meeting was held at Khuhra Madressa.
The participants of the meeting condemned the proposed construction of Kalabagh dam and other dams, unfair NFC award, army operation in Balochistan, bombing of American army on Bajaur Agency and publication of blasphemous cartoons in some European newspapers.
The JUI will take out a procession on February 23 from Therhi town to Ghanta Ghar Sukkur.
