Demo by PML-N, PPP

Published February 13, 2006

LAHORE, Feb 12: The PPP and PML-N leaders and workers demonstrated outside Lohari Gate on Sunday against the rising prices of essential items, sugar in particular, publication of blasphemous cartoons and growing violence in society.

Altaf Qureshi, Khwaja Saad Rafiq, Zafar Masood Bhatty and Arif Nasim Kashmiri addressed the demonstrators.

They said absence of democratic rule was the root cause of several problems being faced by the country. They alleged that the rulers were implementing imperialist powers’ agenda here.

They said if countries like United States were working against Islam, the Pakistani rulers were depriving the people of their constitutional rights. The rulers were unaware of people’s problems, they added.—Staff Reporter
