Widow, children kidnapped

SAHIWAL, Feb 12: A widow and her three children were kidnapped by six armed men in Chak 15-WM on Sunday. Reports said that Wahid Bibi, her seven year daughter and two sons — four and two years of age — were present in their house when armed men came there. The intruders forcibly took away the widow and her children in two cars.

Harappa police have registered a case against the accused under the Hudood Ordinance.

WIRE THEFT: Four villages plunged into darkness after thieves cut the overhead electricity wire from poles on Saturday night near Chak 15/11-L.

Reports said that thieves loaded the wire on their truck and escaped from the scene. As a result, the electricity supply to Chaks 15/11-L, 10/11-L, 11/11-L and 21/11-L was suspended.

Police registered a wire theft case against the accused when villagers protested on the suspension of power supply. They also called upon the Mepco authorities to make arrangements for the early restoration of the power supply.

LOOTED: A gang of 10 bandits looted a petrol pump in Harappa on Saturday night.

Reports said that armed bandits came to Al-Karam petrol pump by a car and an oil-tanker. They held Imran, the owner’s son, at pistol point and tied him and employees Naseer and Bashir with ropes. The outlaws filled some 12,000 litres of diesel in their oil-tanker, snatched Rs60,000 in cash from cashier and escaped while firing in the air.

Harappa police have registered a case.

RELEASED: JUI’s Chichawatni president and six other activists involved in a firing case were released on bail from the Central Jail on Saturday night.

Chichawatni JUI chief Hafiz Habibullah and activists Pir Aneesur Rehman, Saleem, Aslam, Anwar, Nazeer and Azim were arrested for opening fire near the house of former PPP MNA Begum Shahnaz Javed on Feb 3.

A case had been registered against them under the Terrorist Act.
